Medications for Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis
Other titles: Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis; Haemophagocytic Syndrome; Hemophagocytic Syndrome; HLH
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life threatening illness as a result of endothelial tissues of their immune system resulting in excessive inflammation, which leads to damage to organs and tissue notably the liver, skin, brain and bone marrow.
You will find two kinds of HLH, primary HLH and HLH. Primary HLH is an hereditary illness that is also called familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (FHL). Acquired lymphohistiocytosis or secondary HLH occurs after a substantial reaction for example malignancy a systemic infection or immunodeficiency.
At the system when NK cells and the T cells function properly their job is to destroy infected or damaged cells within the human anatomy. But in HLH is a rise in T cells and a reduction in NK cell activity, with a resulting rise in cytokines. This induces inflammatory responses which leads in symptoms and organ damage and the broad tissue and a protracted macrophage activation.
Signs of HLH are usually fever, rash, enlarged lymph nodes, enlarged liver and spleen, swollen gums and gastrointestinal issues. In case HLH is untreated it can progress to multi-organ collapse. Therapy for HLH is aimed at reducing the inflammation that was life-threatening.
